Milk thistle extract is a light yellowish-brown powdery product obtained through processing from the dried mature fruits of the Asteraceae (Compositae) plant milk thistle (Silybum marianum), via a process comprising pressing, extraction, concentration, defatting, drying, pulverization, sieving, and blending.

Appears as a light yellowish-brown powder, free from visible impurities, with a characteristic taste and odor.
